There are 'lift and transfer' solutions for all level of care. These include:
Transfer Belt A transfer belt provides the resident with 'handles'. It is worn by the resident, not the care giver. The resident is weight-bearing, but requires some assistance to get into a standing position, Note: this is not a lifting belt.
Transfer Disc A transfer disk should be used when residents no longer have the ability to pivot. If caregivers proceed with a transfer when a patient does not have the ability to pivot, they will be supporting the resident's full weight.
Sit-to-Stand Aid Also described as a Sit-to-Stand aid, the ETAC Turner Transfer Aid is an active resident transfer system, not a lift. It is suitable to use when the resident has the ability to bear weight on one or both legs but is no longer consistent in this ability. Residents must have sufficient upper body strength to rise supported by the knee pad and grab bar and they must have cognitive ability to follow directions. |
