- Verify that the patient is well-centered within the sling
- Align the lift hanger perpendicularly to the patient
- Move the patient lift from the head side
- Secure the sling straps to the lift’s spreader bar, starting with the feet
- Gradually lift the patient to the necessary height for safe transfer to a bed or stretcher
- A caregiver should remain near the patient’s head to ensure safety and reassurance
